Markus is responsible to manage strategic initiatives, expand the investor network, and establish and manage venture funds of BRI Ventures.
Previously he was the VP of Investment and Business Development. With $250 million in funds, BRI Ventures invests in early-stage and growth-stage startups, including unicorns such as Bukalapak and Grab. He led the fund's accelerator program, launching a $30 million fund in 2020 that invests in tech companies and a $50 million fund in 2021 to invest in direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands.
He was also experienced as The Head Digital Strategy at Bank BRI, where he is responsible to lead the digital strategy team and producing digital frameworks, innovation roadmaps, digital landscape analysis, and new business model exploration.
Before joining Bank BRI, Markus was involved in the South-East Asia startup ecosystem through various roles, including co-founder of Zelos. During this time gained experience by working with multiple investors, including Telkom Indigo and Telstra Muru-D in Singapore.
His 7+ years of experience in the digital industry give Markus a deep understanding of corporate-startup synergy as well as a large network to multiple corporations, especially state-owned enterprises.
He graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Commerce.
